About Early Cup Roasters
Our Story
Early Cup Roasters began with a desire to share our interest in freshly roasted specialty coffees with others of like mind. The founder, Steve Early, started off this adventure as a very small hobby, experimenting with different methods of roasting coffee, first by using an Orville Redenbacher popcorn popper. Yes, it would turn green beans to a fine roasted color but very quickly, with little to no control. How did it taste…well, not bad, but it had a lot to be desired, but it was a fun little experiment.
He then moved on to other methods, cobbling together different types of roasters until he finally decided to jump in all the way and purchase a legitimate shop-sized, gas-fired roaster. He continues to learn and perfect the art and learn the science that produces a great taste in your cup every time.
We are located in Madison, Alabama and are what some may consider a micro-roaster. We buy green beans that we’re personally excited about, and either order directly from the importer or from farms in origin. We are currently supplying family, friends, and neighbors who have expressed an interest in what we are doing on a very small scale. We operate under the Alabama Cotttage Food Law requirements as a home-based business; we are not a cafe’ or public shop.
We try to keep several different origins of beans on hand for a variety. Early Cup Roasters was born out of a passion for coffee and a desire to provide people with the freshest, most flavorful coffee possible. Our owner started roasting coffee over 10 years ago, and his knowledge of the roasting craft has only grown stronger over the years.
Over the past decade, we’ve honed our skills and perfected our roasting process. We believe in the power of a good cup of coffee to start your day, and we’re committed to providing our customers with the best coffee experience possible.

We have also partnered with some folks over the years by providing them roasted coffee, at cost, for Make A Wish fundraisers. We are always about supporting a good cause and having the ability to get our coffee into the community in creative ways.

At Early Cup Roasters LLC, we believe in quality, freshness, and personalized service. We source only the highest quality beans and roast them in small batches to ensure maximum freshness. We don’t roast large batches to only sit on the shelf and get stale, but have a stable customer base where we can anticipate when it’s time to roast based on previous demand.
